How often should I service my Toyota Yaris?

I recently bought a Toyota Yaris and I'm wondering how often I should take it in for service. I drive it daily for my work commute and also use it for weekend errands. I want to make sure I'm properly maintaining my car without overspending on unnecessary services. Any advice?

Congratulations on your new Toyota Yaris! It's recommended to have your car serviced every 6 months or every 5,000 miles, whichever comes first. This will help keep your car running smoothly and catch any potential issues early on. However, if you drive primarily in city traffic or have a particularly rough commute, you may want to consider more frequent services.

I've had a Toyota Yaris for several years now and have found that following the manufacturer's recommended service schedule works best. This typically includes a major service every 30,000 miles, which covers things like oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid top-ups. For minor services, like oil changes, you can also consider doing them yourself to save money.

As a mechanic who specializes in Toyota vehicles, I can say that they are quite reliable and don't require frequent services as long as they are well-maintained. However, it's always a good idea to have an annual inspection to catch any potential issues early on. If you do a lot of highway driving, you can also extend the mileage between services a bit.
