I recently purchased a Toyota GR86 and I'm eager to improve its track performance. I'm considering modifications such as a performance exhaust, upgraded suspension, and lightweight wheels. Can anyone offer advice on which modifications would be most beneficial and what brands or products to consider?
ReplyHi Lila, congratulations on your GR86 purchase! It's a great car for track enthusiasts. In my experience, the most effective modifications for improving track performance would be upgrading the suspension and investing in lightweight wheels. A performance exhaust can also provide a noticeable improvement, but it's definitely lower on the priority list compared to suspension and wheels. As for brands, I highly recommend checking out options from renowned companies like Tein, KW Suspension, and Enkei. Keep in mind that these modifications can be quite pricey, so prioritize based on your budget and goals.
Hey Lila, I've been racing with a GR86 for a few years now and I have to say, a well-tuned suspension setup makes a world of difference. You'll want to go with coilovers over springs for adjustability and a more aggressive stance. As for wheels, I personally love the Enkei RPF1, they're incredibly lightweight and strong. And for a performance exhaust, I've had great results with the Borla cat-back system. Good luck with your project!
Hi Lila, I'm not much of a track enthusiast myself but a close friend of mine is a mechanic and has worked on several GR86s. From what I've seen, a cold air intake and cat-back exhaust can make a noticeable improvement in power, and upgraded brakes will also make a difference when it comes to handling. As for brands, my friend has had success with Injen and Tanabe for intakes and exhausts, and Brembo for brake upgrades. Hope this helps!
