What is the recommended maintenance for my Toyota Supra's turbocharger?

I recently purchased a 2020 Toyota Supra with a twin-scroll turbocharger. What is the best way to preserve the longevity and performance of my turbocharger? Should I warm up the engine before driving? And how often should I change the oil? Thanks!

Congratulations on your new Toyota Supra! To keep your turbocharger in top shape, it's important to warm up the engine before driving. This allows the oil to circulate and properly lubricate the turbo. As for oil changes, it's recommended to change the oil every 5,000 miles or every 6 months, whichever comes first. However, if you frequently engage in spirited driving, it's best to change the oil more frequently. It's also important to use high quality synthetic oil to protect the turbo from wear and tear. Remember, proper maintenance is key to keeping your Supra's turbocharger running for miles to come.

I've been driving a Toyota Supra with a turbocharger for over 10 years now and I've never had any issues with it. Personally, I warm up my engine for about 30 seconds before driving and change the oil every 7,500 miles. However, I must emphasize that these are my personal preferences and may not apply to everyone. My advice would be to follow the manufacturer's recommendations in the owner's manual. And always make sure to use approved oil and change the oil filter with every oil change to keep your turbocharger in good health. Happy driving!

I've been working on cars for over 20 years and I've seen my fair share of turbocharger issues. From my experience, it's crucial to let your engine warm up for at least 1 minute before driving. This allows the oil to fully circulate and reach the turbocharger. As for oil changes, I recommend changing the oil every 3,000 miles if you want to ensure the longest life for your turbocharger. And don't forget to let the engine cool down before changing the oil to avoid any burns. Take care of your turbocharger and it will take care of you!
