I just bought a new Toyota Corolla and it has leather seats. I want to keep them looking brand new for as long as possible. What products and techniques do you recommend for cleaning and protecting the leather seats?
ReplyFirst, invest in a good leather cleaner that is specifically designed for car interiors. Apply it with a microfiber cloth and gently scrub in a circular motion. Rinse and dry with a clean cloth. Next, use a leather protectant to seal in moisture and protect from stains and UV damage. Make sure to reapply every few months to maintain the protection.
I personally like to make my own all-natural leather cleaner. Mix equal parts vinegar and water, and add a few drops of olive oil. Apply with a soft cloth and wipe clean. For the protectant, use a mixture of beeswax and coconut oil. Rub it on with a cloth and buff it off. It not only protects, but also gives the leather a nice shine.
When cleaning your leather seats, avoid using any harsh chemicals or scrubbing too hard. This can damage the leather. Also, make sure to use a conditioner every time you clean to keep the leather supple and prevent cracking. And don't forget to use a sunshade when parked in direct sunlight to prevent fading.
