Should I choose a Toyota RAV4 or a larger SUV for my growing family?

I am a first time car buyer and I'm not sure what the best option is for my growing family. I know the Toyota RAV4 is a popular choice, but I'm also considering a larger SUV for more space. Which one would be the better choice for our needs?
