How to properly maintain the air filters in my Toyota Corolla?

I've noticed a decrease in performance and fuel efficiency in my Toyota Corolla recently, and I was wondering if it could be related to the air filters. How often should I change them and how can I check if they need to be replaced? Any tips on proper maintenance?

Hi Hannah! It's important to regularly check and replace your air filters. Depending on your driving habits and environment, it's recommended to change them every 10,000-15,000 miles or every 12 months. You can easily check if they need to be replaced by holding them up to a light source – if you can't see light through them, it's time for a change. Also, make sure to clean or replace them more frequently if you drive in dusty or polluted areas.

Hello Hannah, it's definitely possible that dirty air filters are causing the decrease in performance and fuel efficiency. In addition to changing them regularly, make sure to also check for any debris or buildup on the filters and clean them if necessary. This will ensure optimal airflow and engine performance. As for maintenance, I recommend taking your car to a trusted mechanic for regular check-ups and tune-ups.

Hey Hannah! I've had a Toyota Corolla for years and have always made sure to take good care of the air filters. In addition to following the recommended schedule for replacements, I also suggest investing in high-quality filters. They may cost a bit more, but they will last longer and provide better filtration for your car's engine. Trust me, it's worth it in the long run.
