Are prolonged idling periods harmful to my Toyota RAV4?

I often have to wait in my car for extended periods of time, such as when picking up my kids from school or waiting for a friend. I know idling for too long is bad for the environment, but could it also be damaging my RAV4's engine?

Yes, prolonged idling periods can harm your car's engine. This is because idling for long periods of time can cause the engine to overheat and put unnecessary strain on the internal parts. It's best to turn off your engine if you know you'll be waiting for more than a minute or two.

Absolutely! Not only is idling bad for the environment, but it can also cause carbon buildup in your engine and decrease fuel efficiency. It's worth investing in a remote starter or just making sure you plan your schedule in a way that minimizes idling time.

Yes, idling is bad for both your car and the environment. If you know you'll be waiting for a while, consider turning off your engine and using the car's battery for the radio and AC. Your RAV4 and the planet will thank you!
